BUFFALO (WNED) - Strong thunderstorms with gusty winds and hail caused damage across Western New York Saturday afternoon, knocking down tree limbs and power lines.
The National Weather Service says a tornado ripped through Genesee County, damaging several homes and buildings.
The hardest hit area was Darien and Corfu where officials say the storms spawned a tornado that damaged sveral homes and buildings and knocked down trees and power lines.
The weather service says the EF-1 tornado cut a 4 mile long path, 100 yards wide, through Darien and Corfu.
A stretch of Route 77 was also closed in Corfu.
The National Weather Service was also investigating reports of a tornado near Rochester.
In Buffalo, thunderstorms are blamed for knocking down several large trees. Damage was also reported in southern Niagara County.
No injuries were reported.
